Auckland Community Theatre Trust was set up in 2004 in order to promote community theatre and the theatre arts in the Auckland area.
Auckland theatre groups can enter their productions in the ACTT Theatre Awards competition. ACTT judges view productions and compile a list of nominees in 14 categories. The list of nominees is released in mid-January along with an invitation to the ACTT Theatre Awards Night – a formal evening held in mid-March.
ACTT also runs Showdown – an Auckland secondary schools competition for school productions.
